WA LATE MODEL WINTER SERIES ROUND TO BARNWELL

Kalgoorlie local Jack Barnewall continues to make an immediate impact in the Late Model ranks, claiming a breakthrough victory in Round 2 of the 2026 Winter Series at Kellerberrin Speedway on Saturday afternoon.
Despite being relatively new to the division, Barnewall has wasted no time announcing himself as a contender, backing up a strong showing in Kalgoorlie a few weeks ago with an impressive all-round performance at the iconic Windy Hill venue.
Barnewall set the tone early in the day, taking victory in the opening heat race before backing it up with a second placing in Heat Two. Those results were enough to secure pole position for the 15-lap feature race, and once the green flag dropped, Barnewall made the most of his front row starting spot to surge straight into the lead.
From there, the Kalgoorlie driver controlled proceedings out front, never looking seriously troubled as he raced to a well-earned Winter Series victory.
Behind him, Brett Niall and Bryn Haythornthwaite were locked in a fierce battle for the minor placings throughout much of the feature, while Ryan Huxtable and Ewan Dickson also worked their way into the contest as the race unfolded.
When the chequered flag fell it was Barnewall who stood tall, taking the win ahead of Niall, with Huxtable charging through to complete the podium in third. Dickson crossed the line in fourth, while Haythornthwaite rounded out the top five.
The result marks an important milestone in Barnewall's early Late Model career and further underlines the potential he has shown since stepping into the category.
The next round of the Winter Series will be the 19th of July at Ellenbrook Speedway.
